4,000 Words Worth of Photos

So very sad that Elsie’s only Grandson and my treasured brother, Daniel Hale Beishline died April 15th. He was 70 and loved and respected by all who knew him. This was my favorite photo of my sister Nancy and I with Dan.

The second photo is one of the last photos of Elsie on her beloved Palomar Mountain. She is surrounded by our family.Chr09Slides02_0018weblg

Our grandchildren, Elsie’s great-great grand-children were up Palomar Mountain last weekend. This is the evening hike near the old property where Elsie hiked more than 100 years ago. Tradition is such a special thing.DSC_0075weblg

I would love to hear from you. Letters encourage me to keep writing “Elsie’s Mountain Years.” Thankful for 229 reviews for Elsie. Thankful Tuzigoot and Montezuma’s Castle National Park have ordered another 40 copies. I think between those two National Parks they have purchased nearly 600 copies.
At the Memorial for my brother Dan I reconnected with my childhood mountain friend Stephanie Bailey Cooper. We roamed the mountain while staying with our grandmothers during the summers. IMG_0587weblg

Hello Barbara, So sorry to hear of your sad loss. Its always heart breaking when you lose someone especially when it is some one very close to you. But he will be remembered not only by friends and family but by so many people through your book which has been an inspiration to us all. There is a short poem on my blog to my sister whom I lost recently you may like to read it because I dedicated it to all who have lost a dear one.
    Best wishes Barbara.

Sorry to hear of your loss – losing a sib or parents leaves you with a lot of half-memories. A memory to me is something you share with another person or people – when they are gone you only have your half left.
Treasure those half-memories they will keep the departed alive in your heart.

Thanks everyone. My website was failing for a couple months to send out notices about new posts. Discovered it and it is fixed. So the last couple monthly posts were read by no one. Discovered WordPress limits you once subscribers go past #100 and then does not send out notifications. My webmaster has fixed it! Sheila Hale my brother was Daniel Hale, named after the relative Nathan Hale. We went several years ago and saw the old family Hale home outside Boston. Elsie told an old family story about the Hale’s that I was amazed to see verified in the movie ” The Crucible.” Didn’t care for the movie but loved seeing her often told story verified. History is such a delightful thing to discover the connections between events and people.
